Khytul Abyad, 26, is a visual artist and writer. She draws and writes about the toll of conflict on life in Kashmir.
Khytul graduated in Bachelors of Fine art (Applied Art) from Kashmir University (2016), focusing on visual story telling. In 2016 Khytul received the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh award to study visual arts and design at Beaconhouse National University. Khytul Abyad is currently drawing and writing her debut graphic novel Shadows that focuses on her years of growing up and the lives of people around her in the war-torn Kashmir. She was a resident artist at Kashmir house, Buffalo, NY as the Abdul Ahad Guru fellow, 2019-20. Khytul lives in Anantnag.
